Telehealth therapy offers my clients an alternative to in-office therapy by utilizing technology, such as telephone or secure video conferencing, to provide the same therapeutic services while clients remain in the convenient private location of their choice. Clients report a sense of comfort knowing they can control their environment and still engage in therapeutic services. In addition, it provides a solution to clients who would not be able to fit in-office therapy into their schedule due to other commitments and provides a sense of relief that they can focus on their personal needs while not compromising their time commuting to an office. The efficacy of Telehealth therapy is supported in the professional mental health community and many states have issued guidelines to licensees on the use of teletherapy such as http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/sw/swtelepracticealert.htm. In addition, I adhere to the National Association of Social Workers and Association of Social Work Board professional guidelines on the use of technology in practice, which you can read at this link: https://www.aswb.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/TechnologySWPractice.pdf
